This article describes a beautiful and profound healing experience with my mother as she made her transition into the light, and her visitation with me a week later.
For many people, it can be a difficult and painful experience when a dearly loved one makes their transition into the afterlife. Regardless of how spiritual our perspective is on death and the afterlife, we may still feel the need to grieve that loss. A big part of the loss is that we will never again be able to experience that person as we knew them in their physical form. However, this does not mean that we can not continue our relationship with them. In fact, we can have an an even deeper connection with them after they have made their transition.
There are many ways to connect. We can write letters, spend time in nature, or go into a meditative state to be with them. We can also simply talk to them just as we would if they were still in human form. They will hear us. It is important to stay open and receptive to our loved ones as they attempt to communicate with us. They may send us messages through dreams or in some unexpected ways.
Many years ago, in a healing session with a client, her father came through me to give her messages and express his love and gratitude to her. At the end of the session, I saw him drape a beautiful scarf over her. When I described the scarf to her, she burst into tears and said, "I love that scarf. That was the last gift that my father gave to me". There have been numerous accounts such as this one in the sessions. Our loved ones want us to know that they are always around us and available with their love and support. We can accept their invitation to go beyond the illusion of separation.
On January 21, 2001, my mother made her transition at the age of 81 after a long illness. She had always been a very religious woman. Prayer was an integral part of her life. She had an especially close relationship with the Blessed Mother which she imparted to me at a young age. It was a special gift we shared. We were always very close.
As soon as I received the news of her passing, I sat down to connect with her. In the midst of my grief, I felt a shaft of light come into my head and move through me. An expanded state of Bliss filled my entire being. I knew it was a gift from my mother to comfort me and to let me know what a wonderful state she was in. I then had the honor of witnessing my mother's Ascension and the Celebration of her glorious transition into the light. There was so much light around her. She looked so radiant, glowing and full of joy. Soon, I saw my father with her. He had made his transition thirteen years before her. I witnessed the great joy of their reunion. They both looked as young and beautiful as they did in their wedding pictures. It was indeed a great comfort to see both of my parents so happy. I could not have asked for more.
Several days later as I returned home from her funeral, I felt my longing to connect with her. The following night while lying in bed, I was experiencing some discomfort in my lower back and left leg due to a recent car accident. I administered some Reiki (healing energy) to my body before going to sleep. Just as I was about to doze off, I felt the presence of my mother. She gently took my ankles and sent healing energy up my legs and into my lower back. The energy transmission was profound. As she did this she said, " You need to be willing for this to heal now".
Due to her illness, my mother had both of her legs amputated. As a healer, I had worked with my mother's legs (the etheric energy body of her legs) many times to alleviate her phantom pain. Now she was working with my legs, which made this an even more emotional experience for me. She then gently took my wrists and sent healing energy through the upper part of my body, which was again profound. As she did this, she spoke to me for a few moments. Upon leaving she said to me, " We have always been Kindred Spirits".
There has been a continuous deepening of love and connection with my mother and all of my loved ones who are in spirit, for which I am very grateful. It has been a great comfort in my life to know that they are always with me.
